nepeta cataria This is an easy-to-grow hardy perennial that most cats go wild for! Interestingly, the nepetalactone contained in catnip is also a safe, effective sedative for adults with insomnia and is the herb of choice for calming restlessness and colic in young children. With its grey/green leaves and tall white flower stalks, it is easy to enjoy in any garden. Tolerates full sun or partial shade and a range of soil conditions.

Seeds take 10 to 20 days to germinate if ideal soil temperature is 21 to 27 degrees Celsius. Start inside in late winter and transplant out after danger of frost has passed or direct sow after last frost.
