Cochrane Family Farm is a family-owned, certified organic farm in Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia. Spread over 30 acres of scenic river valley farmland, we grow a diverse range of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and heirloom seeds.

Summer visits are a special experience - come and see the farm in full bloom and discover its beauty and biodiversity. We're happy to share what's growing on our farm, where all the seeds we sell are grown. Because we know their characteristics firsthand, we can guide you toward a successful season. Our seed packages and website have growing instructions and sometimes a brief history of the seed's origins. All of our seeds are open-pollinated-so you can save your own seed from any of the varieties you purchase from us.
Every fall, we germinate our seeds to maintain high viability and help preserve rare varieties. We proudly ship across Canada and the United States.
Our garden centre opens early April and will stay open until the end of summer. We grow more than 50 different varieties of Certified Organic transplants, and offer a range of shrubs, perennial and annual flowers, berry bushes and fruit trees, climbing vines, aquatic plants, trees, garden tools, potting and soil mixes, fertilizers and more.
Beyond heirloom seeds, we also have a soothing selection of herbal teas. Our signature flavours include: Turmeric Ginger, Peppermint Cranberry and Festive Chai tea. Herbal teas are a great way to get the many benefits these medicinal herbs have to offer all while enjoying the pleasing flavours. We are well known for the great array of teas we offer.
Did you know that our culinary herb and spice blends are certified organic, have no fillers and are made in small batches to maintain the highest quality standards? We grow the hand tended herbs right here on the farm. Try favourites like our Steak spice, Italian Blend and Savory Herb Blend.
If you have an avid gardener in your life or someone who loves local, organic products, we offer gift certificates, as well as gift boxes featuring a trio or 6-pack of herbal teas or spice mixes. You can even get one of our three different seed gift packs from our flower collection, herb collection, or kitchen collection each featuring six unique varieties.
Usually hosted from February to September, once or twice a month, these intensive, interactive workshops with hands on skill building are a great learning opportunity.
