Description
Zucchini Costata Romanesca #3332
(60 days) Cucurbita pepo. Deeply striped and ribbed, Costata resembles Cocozelle, with a distinctive sweet mildly nutty flavor. Also a productive source for tasty male squash blossoms and good for stuffing even when the fruits get way oversized. Tender skin damages easily. Slower to bear and not as high yielding as hybrid varieties. It reaches 20 lb in a good year.
Certified organic 20 seeds/pkt
Easy to grow. Seeds may be started indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost or direct-sown when temperatures and the soil have warmed. Sow seed 1-2″ deep and thin to 3-4′ apart. Seeds can take 7 to 14 days to germinate and want soil temperature of 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. Squash like rich, loose, nutrient dense soil so add compost or fertilizer for good results.
Cochrane Family Farm is a Certified organic family farm that follows permaculture practices to continually improve the soil. We do not use any chemical sprays or other chemical inputs and only grow hand tended heirloom varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We do not grow any vegetable or herb hybrids. Because of these practices our seeds are well adapted and vigorous.
