Description
Onion New York Early #2065
Our Favorite (98 days) Allium cepa Open – pollinated. Superior strain of Early Yellow Globe selected for storage until early spring. New York Early was maintained by Orange County, NY, commercial onion growers. Very firm mild yellow onions may be eaten raw in salads or sandwiches. They average 2½ ““ 3” across and store longer than many yellow onions.
Certified organic 150+ seeds per packet
Start indoors 5-6 weeks before the last frost. Sow 1/8-1/4″ deep in soil-less mix in flats and clip them as they grow so they grow no taller than 5″. Transplant when all frost is past, 3″ apart. Bunching onions are actually a perennial but most often grown as an annual in our climate. Onions require rich, well drained soil with lots of organic matter and like all members of the Allium family do not like weed pressure of any kind so they do very well in well maintained raised beds.
Cochrane Family Farm is a Certified organic family farm that follows permaculture practices to continually improve the soil. We do not use any chemical sprays or other chemical inputs and only grow hand tended heirloom varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We do not grow any vegetable or herb hybrids. Because of these practices our seeds are well adapted and vigorous.
