Valeriana officinalis A well known perennial, medicinal herb with numerous medicinal properties. Best known to help with insomnia, reduce stress and tension. Lovely plant that once established is easy to maintain and can grow 3-5ft. Valerian has been used medicinally since the times of early Greece and Rome. Historically, valerian was used to treat insomnia, migraine, fatigue, and stomach cramps. Today, valerian is promoted for insomnia, anxiety, depression, premenstrual syndrome, menopause symptoms, and headaches. Easy to grow and maintain, self seeds easily and makes for an attractive backdrop in gardens. To avoid self seeding cut of seed heads once flowering is finished for season.
