Satureja hortensis is a popular culinary herb that East Coasters are crazy about! Slender, branching annual grows to 1-2′ with tiny pale lilac flowers from later summer to fall. Easy to grow and dry. We use a lot of summer savory in a number of our culinary spice blends we sell and for that reason we grow a lot of it here at the farm.

Sow Summer Savory seeds on the surface of a prepared starting mix as they need light to germinate. Start indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost and they take 10 to 15 days to germinate.
