Echinacea purpurea Purple coneflowers are a must-have perennial in every garden! Large purple-red flowers on long 2-4′ stems bloom every summer for a long period, well past frost. Adaptable to a wide range of soils, gardens, and growing conditions. Three-year-old roots are harvested for medicinal uses. Suitable as single plants or in mass plantings. Helps attract birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects to your garden. Dependable and robust, these can handle high heat and are drought tolerant.

Cold stratify echinacea seeds for four weeks and start indoors 8 to 10 weeks before planting outside or can also be direct seeded in early spring. Germination will occur within 10 to 21 days.
