Swiss Chard Fordhook Giant #5014
(55-60 days) Beta vulgaris A staple for delicious fresh greens since the 1920s, this mammoth strain easily reaches a full 2 feet tall. Heavily puckered, fleshy leaves emerge with mint green stalks and quickly mature to a pure ivory color. The stalks and leaves are loaded with nutrition and fiber. This all-season selection is a dependable all-season producer.

Easy to grow. Sow seeds outdoors in early spring when soil temperature is at least 10 degrees Celsius up to 30 degrees Celsius, making it one of the most tolerant vegetable seed varieties for germinating. Plant seeds 4″ apart and 1/4″ deep in rows 20-24″ apart; thin to 12″ apart. Can also be started indoors 5-6 weeks before transplanting out. Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade. Swiss chard withstands light frost. (55 – 60 days).One really nice thing about Swiss Chard is it can stay in a garden for months and still be tasty when harvested.
