Herb Lemon Balm #4012
(Perennial) Melissa officinalis. This herb has been used since ancient times and is valued for sharpening the mind and increasing memory. The leaves have a wonderful lemon scent, therefore they make a delightful tea, and can be used chopped in salads, soups and stews. A neat, compact plant with oval leaves and small flowers.

Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost or direct seed a week before last frost, germination takes 10 to 14 days. Barely cover seeds and do not overwater. Lemon Balm likes partial shade and a moist, fertile soil so pick a spot in the garden where they can be protected from the heat of the mid day sun.
