Easy to grow. Sow seeds outdoors in early spring when soil temperature is at least 10 degrees Celsius up to 30 degrees Celsius, making it one of the most tolerant vegetable seed varieties for germinating. Plant seeds 4″ apart and 1/4″ deep in rows 20-24″ apart; thin to 12″ apart. Can also be started indoors 5-6 weeks before transplanting out. Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade. Swiss chard withstands light frost. (55 – 60 days). One really nice thing about Swiss Chard is it can stay in a garden for months and still be tasty when harvested.
Cochrane Family Farm is a Certified organic family farm that follows permaculture practices to continually improve the soil. We do not use any chemical sprays or other chemical inputs and only grow hand tended heirloom varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We do not grow any vegetable or herb hybrids. Because of these practices our seeds are well adapted and vigorous.
