Beans, Baie Verte #1011
Baie Verte is an Acadian heirloom that probably originated with indigenous farmers of the Maritimes, at one time quite popular in the local communities. It is a green pole bean with reddish speckling on white seeds. Can be eaten fresh or used in soups and baking beans.

Planting Depth: 1″ Will germinate in: 7-10 Days. Maturity: 85-95. Likes sun or shade Legumes like well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a moderate amount of nutrients. Water lightly at planting, medium at flowering, and heavily throughout harvest time. Avoid overhead watering which can promote disease. Sow directly once soils have reached at least 65F, preferably after the last frost. Make small, successive plantings every 10 days for a continuous harvest. Bush beans will produce all of their fruit over a few weeks, then stop producing. Leave the pods on the plant until they have completely dried. Store dry, shelled beans in an airtight container.
