Winter Squash Spaghetti #3325
90 to 100 days Cucurbita pepo, Full sun. Regular watering. Loose, fertile and well – draining soil. Days to germination: 10 to 14 days. The name of the spaghetti squash comes from its unique flesh. When cooked, the fibers give the squash very distinctive strands that look a lot like orange spaghetti. You can’t eat spaghetti squash raw, and its best baked. The inside flesh is scraped out with a fork, to help bring out the “spaghetti” nature of the squash. Extremely high in vitamin A, good sources of potassium, fiber and vitamin C, therefore this makes an excellent addition to meals.

Easy to grow. Seeds may be started indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost or direct-sown when temperatures and the soil have warmed. Sow seed 1-2″ deep and thin to 3-4′ apart. Seeds can take 7 to 14 days to germinate and want soil temperature of 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. Squash like rich, loose, nutrient dense soil so add compost or fertilizer for good results.
