Sow outdoors as soon as possible in spring. Plant 1/4-1/2″ deep and 2″ apart in rows 24″ apart, turnips are heavy feeders, because of this, use lots of rich organic material. Germinates in 7-14 days and soil temperature should be 18 to 21 degrees Celsius.. Thin to 4-6″ apart. Sow every 2 weeks for continuous harvest, even through. Sun to partial shade. Long time favorite on our farm for our fresh produce sales. Every gardener should include these easy to grow turnips. Eat the root fresh, in salads, roasted and stir fries.
