(60 days) Brassica oleracea var. acephala Russian traders brought this Siberian heirloom to Canada in the 19th century. Vigorous edible landscape plant a big hit for its unsurpassed tenderness and delicate flavor. Oakleaf foliage colors after fall frosts. Red and purple veining changes to dark green when cooked. A popular variety for micro-greens.

Direct sow in early spring to mid-summer for late summer and fall or early harvests. You can also start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost, and transplant out as soon as the soil warms up. Optimal soil temperature: 10-30°C. Seeds should germinate in 7-10 days. Plant 1/4″ deep and thin to 14 – 18″ apart.
