Description
Lettuce Cardinale Batavian #5036
(60 days) Lactuca sativa This is a large green and red Batavian lettuce that produces crunchy, thick leaves. Because this variety is slow to bolt it is good for summer harvests. Thick leaves are good for cut salads and at maturity it makes a good loosely wrapped crisp head.
Cardinale Batavian is a Red French leaf variety with upright growth which helps with resisting bottom rot.
Certified organic 200+ seeds/pkt
Sow seeds outdoors as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Plant seeds 1″ apart and 1/4″ deep. Seeds will germinate in 7-14 days. Thin to 6-8″ apart for Looseleaf, 10″ apart for Romaine, and 10-12″ apart for Crisphead. Sow continuously for a constant supply of lettuce. Lettuce is best grown in cooler weather and prefers full sun or partial shade. Lettuce likes to have soil kept evenly moist.
