55 to 65 days. Beta vulgaris Very popular, old standard, all – purpose beet with dark red flesh that is sweet tasting. Tops make good greens. Ideal for fresh eating, pickling or freezing. 1st introduced in1892.

Easy to grow. Sow seeds outdoors in early spring when soil temperature is at least 10 degrees Celsius up to 30 degrees Celsius, making it one of the most tolerant vegetable seed varieties for germinating. Plant seeds 4″ apart and 2″ deep in rows 20-24″ apart; thin to 12″ apart. Can also be started indoors 5-6 weeks before transplanting out. Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade. Swiss chard withstands light frost.
