Winter Squash Waltham Butternut #3343

(100 days) Cucurbita moschata. Larger fruits with small seed cavities and thick, straight, cylindrical necks. Fruits avg. 9″ long, avg. 4-5 lb. Flesh has smooth texture and sweet flavor. Easy to grow. Seeds may be started indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost or direct-sown when temperatures and the soil have warmed. Sow seed 1-2″ deep and thin to 3-4′ apart. Seeds can take 7 to 14 days to germinate and want soil temperature of 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. Squash like rich, loose, nutrient dense soil so add compost or fertilizer for good results.
