Onion Bennie’s Red #2053

 (110 days) Allium cepa We love this variety and have grown it here for a number of years now. It has excellent storage ability, large bulb size and beautiful circular coloring so that, when it is cut in half it looks like a bull’s-eye. We have been growing this variety for a number of years now and are one of the only places offering this awesome onion.

Certified organic 150+ seeds/pkg

Start indoors 5-6 weeks before the last frost. Sow 1/8-1/4″ deep in soil-less mix in flats and clip them as they grow so they grow no taller than 5″. Transplant when all frost is past, 3″ apart. Bunching onions are actually a perennial but most often grown as an annual in our climate. Onions require rich, well drained soil with lots of organic matter and like all members of the Allium family do not like weed pressure of any kind so they do very well in well maintained raised beds.

We do not use any chemical sprays or other chemical inputs and only grow hand tended heirloom varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We do not grow any vegetable or herb hybrids. Because of these practices our seeds are well adapted and vigorous.
